About me
Hi! Welcome. My name is Catherine Pilfrey. I am a multi-talented, modern-day renaissance woman (Did I really say that?) — an art director, a meditation teacher, a lover of the I Ching, a health and nutrition coach, a yogi, a foodie, a home chef, a plant-lover, and a knitter.

I was born in Australia, and raised in Canada, which is where my heart calls home. After art college I moved to Boston where I live with my beloved partner Furman Walls, and my high-maintenance Siberian cat Kawhi.
My Story
I have been consulting the I Ching since I was in college. It is enormously helpful for making tough decisions or trying to make sense of your life, like when your boyfriend tells you he has fallen in love with another woman... but he still loves you too. That is what happened to me when I was 21. After weeks of suffering his horrible indecision and my fear of losing him I consulted the I Ching and got Hexagram 23 — Splitting Apart. I was horrified. This was not the answer I wanted to hear so I consulted the I Ching again. I received Splitting Apart, again.

Wow! That got my attention.

I knew this was the right thing to do; I had just been too afraid to face it. So I took the instructions to heart. I found a new apartment and moved out.

And that began my deep connection to the wisdom of the I Ching, the wisdom of the ancients — but also my inner wisdom that emerges in the process. I consult the I Ching regularly when I have questions about how to handle a situation in my life — big or small, or when I have to make a decision. It has become my trusted guide.

Fast forward to spring 2020. I saw a friend for acupuncture who uses tarot and oracle cards in her healing practice. It got me thinking about the I Ching and how it would be great to have an I Ching deck. That initial inspiration got me on my way, combining my love of color, design, patterns and the I Ching into the I Ching Oracle deck that I hope will be empowering for you in your life.
